After successfully writing and directing his debut short film Kiana in 2013, filmmaker Hallam Drury has turned his attention sharing the real life stories of the Kulung people of Eastern Nepal in the forthcoming documentary Carrying Everest.

Leah Davies – Co-Writer/Storyteller

Her conscious communications consultancy Paper Planes Connect is a place to celebrate our difference and to unite in our sameness. Using her experience as a journalist and international development worker, Leah hopes to platform the voice of the Kulung and create a companion book to accompany the film to tell their unique stories their way.

Dilip Kulung – Consultant

1653845_807460912604623_872022109_nDilip Kulung was a porter for  5 years, working on the Everest trails to cover his study expenses. Today, he is a human rights practitioner and has been raising the voice of the Himalayan Kulung community. He is actively involved in development activities in his birthplace – Mahakulung, in Lower Everest. Dilip has written many articles about indigenous peoples, human rights and climate change for different magazines. His sole aim is to develop the Lower Everest region. For this, he and his organisation www.kulung.net.np are calling for respected individuals and organisations from across the world with varied backgrounds to become involved in a way they want and can in Lower Everest to improve  the livelihoods of the local poor people.

Jeffery Zampillo – Original score

Philip Meddows – Editor & consultant

Carrying Everest

Philip Meddows is a drifter amongst artistic endeavors. He has worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Google, Canberra Institute Of Technology and the Sydney Opera House. After doing a story edit on Hallam Drury’s first short film Kiana while studying screen and media at CIT, he found his calling as a video editor. Since then he has worked on numerous short films, music videos and corporate projects. Most recently he put together CIT’s first online interactive course in Biometrics and Identification for the Future. When Philip isn’t working with clients or employers to create media content, he makes videos for his Youtube channel known by his alternate personality DyslexiCBeanie.
